…"The River is an accessible musical statement of culture. The listening experience affirming Monasterios’s place among today’s most vital jazz voices. With The River, Silvano Monasterios delivers a suite on place, memory, and the human condition, rendered through a blend of rhythm, melody, and form. It’s an album that speaks to the heart with a music steeped in cultural specificity but universally resonant. In Monasterios’s hands, the river does not divide; it connects." - Nolan DeBuke, The Jazz Word

..."This music represents Silvano Monasterios’ intricate and often complex rhythms and improvised melodies, along with his technical sophistication and the passion that comes from ones culture and personality. This music is a tribute to the bravery and spirit of the Venezuelan people." - Dee Dee McNeil, Making a Scene

..."In the end, Monasterios' idealistic River is as clear and peaceful as any such stream could be, thanks to his remarkable skills as writer, arranger and performer, and those of his stellar nonet, all of which make cruising down this river a bright and pleasurable experience." - Jack Bowers, All About Jazz

..."Silvano Monasterios brings to mind the works of Gershwin—particularly in his approach to composition. Both pianists, both visionaries, they share a radiant conception of music, one that defies convention and delves into the finest details of arrangement to elevate each section of a piece, allowing the melody to assert itself with natural elegance." - Thierry De Clemensat, Paris Move
